Bring depth, movement, and organic beauty to your ceramics with Mayco Elements™ Glazes. Inspired by the colors and textures found in nature, these specialty glazes produce rich, flowing surfaces that mimic the visual complexity of many mid-range and high-fire glazes while firing at Cone 06/05.
Each Elements™ glaze features a primary color complemented by a secondary "float" color that naturally settles into carved details, textures, and recessed areas. The final appearance varies depending on glaze thickness, application technique, firing temperature, and the shape of the piece, making every project uniquely expressive.
Perfect for decorative pottery, sculpture, and artistic ceramics, Elements™ Glazes encourage experimentation and reward creativity with dynamic kiln-fired effects.

Nature-Inspired Flowing Effects
Unlike solid-color glazes, Elements™ Glazes create visual depth through a combination of a primary color and a contrasting float color. As the glaze melts in the kiln, the float settles into recesses and textured areas, highlighting details and adding dimension.
The final appearance is influenced by:
- Number of coats applied
- Application thickness
- Surface texture
- Firing schedule
- Clay body
- Kiln atmosphere
Application Tips
For best results:
- Shake thoroughly before use.
- Stir glaze before and during application.
- Apply 3–4 even coats to Cone 04 bisque.
- Use a soft, fully loaded brush and apply coats consistently.
- Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
- Ensure the glaze is completely dry before firing.
A medium firing ramp (approximately 250°F per hour) is generally recommended for Cone 06 firings.
Firing Information
- Apply to Cone 04 bisque.
- Fire to Cone 06 or Cone 05 for intended low-fire results.
- Many colors also perform well at Cone 6, though color shifts and increased movement may occur.
- Test on your preferred clay body and kiln schedule before production use, especially on vertical forms where flowing glazes may run.
Functional Ware Considerations
Some Elements™ glazes may develop textured surfaces, fine cracks, or crevices when fired on low-fire earthenware. While certain finishes may pass food safety testing, textured surfaces can be difficult to clean thoroughly. For this reason, these glazes are generally best suited for decorative applications unless testing confirms suitability for your clay body and firing conditions.
