Build subtle shadows, dramatic values, and smooth tonal transitions with COPIC Sketch Gray Markers.
The gray families within the COPIC color system provide artists with a wide range of neutral tones for illustration, rendering, design, comics, manga, architectural work, and value studies. Different gray families allow artists to control not only how light or dark a shadow appears, but also its overall temperature.
COPIC Sketch markers are refillable, allowing frequently used gray tones to be replenished with corresponding COPIC Marker Ink Refills rather than replacing the entire marker.

Ideal For
Choosing a Gray Family
Gray isn't necessarily just gray. COPIC separates its grays into different families so artists can control the temperature and character of their shadows and neutral areas.
Cool and Warm Grays provide obvious temperature shifts, while Neutral and Toner Grays provide additional options for controlling the character of a rendered subject. Artists can work within one family for smooth tonal progressions or combine gray families when a piece calls for more varied temperature relationships.
Build Values with Individual Colors
Individual COPIC Sketch markers make it possible to replace a frequently used color or build a gray palette one value at a time.
Keeping several values within the same gray family is particularly useful for gradual shading and dimensional rendering, while individual markers allow artists to choose only the colors relevant to their particular style and subject matter.
