Ampersand’s Museum Series Scratchbord® is a professional-grade surface engineered for scratchboard artists who demand durability, precision, and archival quality.
Each board begins with Ampersand’s premium 1/8" profile FSC-certified Hardbord™, which is warp-resistant and exceptionally stable. The surface is sealed with Archiva-Seal™, a proprietary barrier that protects the board while allowing for excellent media adhesion.
The working surface is coated with ultra-smooth, acid-free kaolin clay, topped with a layer of black India ink. This makes it easier to scratch into, offering crisp, clean lines and fine detail—ideal for realistic rendering and graphic work.
Unlike traditional scratchboard paper, Scratchbord won’t rip, wrinkle, tear, or buckle, making it the preferred choice for gallery-quality pieces and mixed media work.
