Designed for mid-range firing, Kiln Ice Glazes develop their signature fractured surface during cooling, creating dynamic visual interest that varies depending on application, thickness, and clay body. These glazes perform especially well on brown and buff clays, where the crackle effect is more pronounced and visually striking.

For best results, AMACO recommends pairing Kiln Ice Glazes with their Chocolate Clay bodies, which are manganese-free and formulated to complement the glaze’s unique finish.

• Glaze Fire Range: Cone 5–6
  • Cone 5: 1186°C / 2167°F
  • Cone 6: 1222°C / 2232°F
• Bisque Temperature: Cone 04 (1063°C / 1945°F)
• Apply to properly bisque-fired ware for optimal results
• Crackle patterns develop during cooling cycle
