Arches® Huile Oil Paper Pad is a revolutionary alternative to primed canvas, offering artists a premium 300gsm, 100% cotton surface specifically formulated for oil painting. Made in France on a cylinder mould using traditional methods, this paper mimics the texture and absorbency control of canvas while delivering the convenience and portability of a pad.

Thanks to its unique semi-absorbent surface, Arches Huile paper requires no priming—simply paint directly onto the surface with oil paints or oil pastels. The fine grain texture is reminiscent of stretched canvas and allows for beautiful blending, layering, and light-shadow play.

This paper is internally and externally sized with an exclusive oil barrier that prevents paint from soaking through or forming greasy halos. It dries faster than canvas, tolerates heavy brushwork, impasto, and solvents, and offers excellent color vibrancy on the surface.
